Exterior renovations, repairs and finishing in Melbourne.

We renew exterior walls, entrances and the junctions between a home and its outdoor areas. The work can combine damaged-surface repairs, selected cladding or trim replacement, exterior painting and making-good around doors and windows. The aim is a sound base and coordinated weather-exposed details as well as a refreshed appearance.

Check the wall, opening and adjoining roof edge together.

Peeling paint, open joints and swollen finishes may be symptoms of moisture rather than isolated cosmetic defects. We look at the affected surface and its neighbouring details before setting the repair boundary, including visible window edges, eaves, gutter interfaces and ground levels where relevant.

The assessment separates a local finish repair from damaged substrate, a failed junction or a wider roofing or drainage issue. Related specialist work is identified before new finishes cover the affected area.

Set up access and prepare the existing surface.

Suitable access equipment and protection are arranged for the agreed working area. We protect retained glazing, paths and garden features, then remove loose coatings and unsound surface material using a method suitable for the existing substrate.

Cleaning, drying and preparation precede filling or coating. Old or unidentified materials are assessed before disturbance. A smooth new layer cannot provide a reliable finish over a loose or damp base.

Repair the substrate or replace the affected component.

Sound, localised defects can be repaired with a system appropriate to the material. Where cladding, lining or trim has deteriorated beyond a suitable repair, the agreed section is replaced and its junction with retained material is made good.

Replacement includes the supporting or fixing condition that the component depends on. Structural deterioration and extensive decay require the appropriate assessment and repair scope; they are not resolved by cosmetic filler.

Renew entrances and door or window interfaces.

An entrance update can bring wall finishes, door surrounds and the adjoining landing into the same programme. Where a new door or window is included, the opening, frame installation and surrounding lining or render repairs are coordinated.

Flashing, drainage paths and compatible perimeter seals are considered as part of the selected system. We do not seal over intended weep or drainage openings. Changed openings and structural work need their own design, approvals and responsible practitioners.

Prime, coat and finish exposed edges.

Prepared repairs and bare areas receive the primer or sealer suited to the substrate and coating system. We apply the selected exterior finish within its weather and drying requirements, taking the coating to the agreed edge, corner or elevation.

Finish checks include repaired junctions, coating coverage and the contrast with retained surfaces. Exterior sealants are selected for the joint, movement and material compatibility rather than treated as a universal cure for water entry.

Connect outdoor finishes without concealing a water problem.

At patios, steps and room-to-garden openings, the new surface must work with the doorway, falls and existing drainage. These levels are resolved before the final surface or threshold finish is installed.

At completion, we review the agreed repairs, surface transitions and working access with you. We identify any roof or drainage repairs outside this renovation scope so you know which work is complete and which separate defects still need attention.

Before you get started

Can you repaint an exterior where paint keeps peeling?

Yes. We first assess the peeling area, remove loose material and identify any moisture or substrate repairs needed within the agreed scope. We then prepare the base and apply the suitable primer and selected finish coats.

Is local repair always suitable for deteriorated cladding or trim?

No. The condition, extent of damage, fixing support and material decide whether local repair is appropriate or a section needs replacement. Cosmetic filler is not a substitute for a sound component.

Can an exterior renovation include doors and windows?

Yes. The scope can coordinate suitable door or window work with the surrounding wall finishes, opening details and drainage interfaces. Structural changes and regulated work need the appropriate responsible practitioners.
